I’m sure you have heard it mentioned by now either in the news or on social media- “the Hunter’s Moon” is upon us. What exactly is the Huntner’s Moon? According to Space.com “Native Americans used to attach a moniker to each month’s full moon and traditionally the October full moon was known as the Hunters Moon.” Makes sense. This time of year would be particularly great for hunters to spot prey, with the trees losing their leaves and the full moon illuminating forests and fields. Were expecting something more spectacular?
Why is this Hunters Moon Special?
If you were a little let down to discover that a Hunter’s Moon was so easily explained maybe this will bring back some more magic to this week’s night sky- it’s also a “supermoon”, a full moon that sits at it’s closest distance to the earth, also known as “perigee”. While one day we may have a scientist(or 2) on staff, today is not that day. We do know someone however smart enough to link this video to give you a visual explanation.
This a great time for energy work, especially with our close approximity. Full moons are prime time for the release of negativity. Grab your journal and write down things, feelings, and energies that you want to remove from your life. Visualize placing that which no longer serves you outside of you. Imagine handing it over to the Moon. Putting it inside the Moon. There’s plenty room so don’t be shy. As we progress towards the New Moon, spend some time in the coming nights(and days depending on when its rising) looking up at the Moon. Noticing the Moon getting smaller, imagine what you released getting smaller. It’s helpful to chart out the phases when using Moon Manifestation, so check out our Lunar calendar too.
