Ocamcan was born from a digital design course. We were tasked to build several websites with a final site to be completed in 8 weeks with Word Press. This could be a portfolio of work, a business website, or something of our choice. Uncertain of what direction I would take with digital design I decided instead of creating a business page I would create something that I would want to read myself and that could also possibly one day act as part of my portfolio of work.
I have always had a passion for personal development, self-care, and spirituality. It’s always been a desire of mine to find a way to bring that into the online space. I had some very unexpected health issues pop up right as the semester began and my worries and fears really began to make me feel depressed. I tried my damnedest to stay on task and keep my focus turning this project into something positive.

There were many hills and valleys to trek through on the way but the experience was well worth it. I discovered how to incorporate many useful plugins into WordPress to really make the vision come to life. I also learned how to make simple vision boards and design tiles using Canva. This was a great way to put all your ideas into one place before creating a website. Rather than just willy-nilly building a site, only then realize that all the components you selected like the themes, colors, images, and fonts actually DON’T work together. I even was able to use Canva to create my logo.
HTML, CSS, WordPress, Canvas, Google Docs- these were all foreign to me. Over 8 weeks I’ve learned how to efficiently use them all to create this website. Most importantly, throughout this project I have discovered that anyone is capable of creating something that looks clean and professional.
